Coaches & Support Staff Announced For NZ Paralympic Team

Announcement of the Coaches & Support Staff for Paris

We are thrilled to announce the coaches and support staff that will support our strong New Zealand swimming team at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The support team is headlined by Simon Mayne as Head Coach. Having been involved in previous campaigns since Beijing 2008, this is the first time in his career he will fill this role.

One other coach has been selected, with Tom Onley (Whangarei) selected as a Team Coach. His work with Cameron Leslie over the past few years has seen Leslie become World Champion and break the World Record in the Men's 50m Freestyle S4 twice. So, this selection is recognition of the strong combination formed between the duo, as they look ahead to a big programme in Paris.

SNZ's High Performance Manager, Amanda White, has been selected as the Team Leader & Chaperone for her first Paralympic Games.

Rounding out the team of four support staff is Graeme White, who will be the Team Physiotherapist at his second consecutive Paralympic Games.

Head Coach and SNZ's Paralympic Programme Lead, Simon Mayne, feels privileged to be leading a strong group of swimmers to Paris.

"After watching our Olympic team perform in front of big French crowds, we are looking forward to competing in the same venue. We've got a strong team all aspiring to make finals and win medals for their country, we can't wait to test ourselves at the world."

Team Coach, Tom Onley, is excited to be heading to Paris.

"It's an honour to be selected on the New Zealand team to assist our swimmers to perform in Paris. We can't wait to finalise our preparations in Mallorca before racing gets under way."

Two other support staff are joining the team in Mallorca for their final preparation training camp. Coach Todd Mason (Vikings) and performance analyst Elliot Snedden (HPSNZ) will play an important role in ensuring the team arrive in Paris as ready to compete as possible.

Our final NZ Paralympic team has now been confirmed and will depart New Zealand for Mallorca on Saturday this weekend. Please see the full team below.
