Engaging with the Community – Good Sports

Over the past few months, we have been delivering Good Sports presentations around the country. Through Zoom meetings and community presentations, we have been having engaging discussions about the importance of creating positive swimming experiences.

Swimming New Zealand is proud to be one of the initial sports to join the Sport NZ-led Good Sports movement. We are committed to promoting positive sporting experiences to everyone involved in swimming. We are committed to living out the Balance is Better philosophy by improving the structures within our sport and through the Good Sports program we are committed to educating our community about how everyone can play their role.

These presentations have provided an overview of the Balance is Better philosophy and how this supports us in the delivery of swimming. The engaging discussion has been focused on what a positive experience looks like and the role each of us play. An update of the participation strategy and progress was also provided, as everything was linked to providing a positive experience within swimming.

The presentations have been tailored to different groups as well, including boards and administrators both nationally and regionally, and more recently coaches at the NZSCTA conference and local communities.
