Event Update – Auckland, Hamilton & Hawke’s Bay to Host Swimming NZ Events in 2024

Announcement of the Dates, Locations & Event Information for 2024 SNZ Events

We are stoked to confirm the event calendar for our 2024 events up until the end of August. As part of this announcement, we have also released the event information for each respective event. This includes the event information book, event schedule and qualifying times.

We are excited to announce that the 2024 Apollo Projects Division II Swimming Competition will be hosted at Waterworld Te Rapa, Hamilton, from 7 – 11 May 2024. This event is a popular one on the calendar, and we look forward to welcoming the swimmers to Hamilton for the week. For the first time, swimmers aged 19+ will have the opportunity to swim at this competition, as part of providing swimmers who have finished school an additional opportunity to continue swimming.

We have also made a couple of adjustments to our previous planning for venues, following ongoing discussions with our venue partners. These include the 2024 NZ Secondary School Swimming Championships now being held in Auckland, as well as the 2024 Apollo Projects NZ Short Course Swimming Championships.

There have been minor improvements to the event criteria and event schedules of each event since the 2023 edition. The qualifying times are something that have been improved to provide more opportunity for swimmers to attend these events. We encourage everyone to read through the respective documents thoroughly.

Swimming NZ’s Head of Participation & Events, Dale Johnson, is grateful for the support of the Events Advisory Committee during the past few weeks.

“A lot of feedback and planning has helped us get to this announcement today. Thanks to our EAC who have provided useful feedback whilst trying to confirm the event criteria and particularly the qualifying times for 2024.”

Johnson also expressed gratitude to the three venues and local stakeholders hosting the events between April and August next year.

“I’d like to thank the booking and operations teams at each of Waterworld, HBRAC and NAC for their support in us hosting these Swimming NZ events at their facility, and the respective councils and swimming regions for their support. We can’t wait to host these events in 2024, it’s going to be a great year for our sport.”

Finally, Johnson also took the opportunity to encourage families and locals to be in Hawke’s Bay for the 2024 Apollo Projects NZ Swimming Championships.

“It’s bound to be an awesome event, where we see our top swimmers aiming to qualify for the New Zealand team at the Olympics or Paralympics in Paris. Let’s get behind them and cheer them on from the grandstand to give them that extra energy boost.”
