Kiwis Looking To Fly In Melbourne

Event Preview of the 2024 Citi Para Swimming World Series and Victorian Open Champs

A team of 10 strong athletes left New Zealand on Sunday to begin preparations for the 2024 Citi Para World Swimming Series held in conjunction with the 2024 Victorian Open LC Championships.

The 2024 Citi Para Swimming World Series Australia is an important competition in the international calendar for our Para swimmers as it offers a valuable racing opportunity against other countries. Alongside the competition, swimmers also have the opportunity to renew or be internationally classified.

Paralympic Pathway Lead, Simon Mayne, says it's an important competition in the calendar.

"It's a good meet for our new swimmers on the team, as this will be their first international experience. We also have senior swimmers on the team who are tracking well toward Paris. It is a great opportunity for everyone to race alongside so many other competitive countries."

Aquablack Lili-Fox Mason is excited to be leading the team into competition.

"I'm super excited to be back at this amazing facility and I'm excited to race with such a great team. It's awesome to have some younger swimmers racing with us and getting this opportunity too."

New Zealand is also widely represented in the Victorian Open LC Championships with teams from Club 37, Neptune, North Canterbury, Phoenix Aquatics, Swim Timaru, SwimZone Racing, and Wharenui making the trip across the ditch to have more long course racing opportunities.
