Swimming New Zealand Launches New Registered Swim School Programme

Announcement of the Registered Swim School Programme

Swimming New Zealand is committed to ensuring that anyone wanting to learn to swim can do so in a safe and trusted environment. The Swimming NZ Registered Swim School Programme has been developed to provide swim school operators with an industry recognised accreditation that signals their acceptance and achievement of a set of minimum standards that are a positive step towards improving the quality and safety of Swim Schools In New Zealand.

Swimming New Zealand CEO, Steve Johns, is excited about the programme and the opportunities it provides.

"The Registered Swim School Programme has huge potential, initially by providing a standardised accreditation programme for the swimming community, but most importantly it creates a network of like-minded providers that are committed to growing swimming in Aotearoa."

The Registered Swim School Programme provides other holistic benefits for the sector, no more so than the pathways from learn to swim through to competitive or club swimming. In a world where we are increasingly competing for people’s time and relevance a more connected network with stronger pathways can only benefit swimming, especially as more swim school come on board which will highlight the 100,000's of people who participate in swimming on a weekly basis making it one of the largest participation sports in Aotearoa.

Swimming NZ is excited to welcome CLM SwimMagic as the inaugural Swim School in the programme. CLM CEO, Craig Carter, is thrilled to be part of the programme.

"At CLM we are proud to be the inaugural swim school accredited though the Registered Swim School Programme. With 14 SwimMagic sites across the country delivering lesson's to over 16,000 tamariki and rangatahi every year it makes perfect sense to work proactively with Swimming New Zealand to achieve our shared goal of getting more people swimming."

The Registered Swim School Programme will be rolled out across the country over the coming months.
