Welcome Carlrine Gillespie to Swimming NZ

Technical Official & Volunteer Development Lead

We are excited to announce and welcome Carlrine Gillespie as the Technical Official & Volunteer Development Lead for Swimming NZ. Carlrine joins us in a casual position to help organise and lead the development of technical officials around the country. We have a strong strategic focus in supporting our volunteer workforce, and we are excited how this role will help provide a good experience for the volunteers within swimming throughout New Zealand.

Many of you will know Carlrine from events, as she has a strong background within the sport. Carlrine officiated at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo and at the 2021 FINA World Short Course Champs in the same year, as well as at her local club Dargaville from Northland, so has an abundance of domestic and international experience with FINA and World Para Swimming. Carlrine has also been a member of the Technical Advisory Committee for the past few years. It’s great to have her on board and we are looking forward to providing a good experience and more opportunities for our technical officials moving forward.

Initially, a few key projects for Carlrine will be:

- Improving the technical official pathway

- Updating the technical official education and development

- Hosting development opportunities alongside national events in 2023

- Being the Technical Director at national events

- Organising a monthly newsletter for officials

- Be the main contact for officials

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to her if you have any questions. Her contact email is officials@swimming.org.nz
